MOVING

1 min read
Hey guys, I haven't updated in a while. It's been months since I've done anything, posted any art, what have you. I've been spending my time doing a lot of traditional art, practicing, doing other activities unrelated to my field of art like graphic design, programming, Android development, having a social life, all that good stuff. I've started college now and I want to be able to start fresh with an entirely new portfolio (one that does not suck to great ends). I've made a new DA to go by that you can access here. I didn't want to stick with a nickname I made in early high school that has no meaning to me now whatsoever and I want to be able to move away from a lot of things I was bogged down with from the other account. From now on, this account is officially dead. Thanks for being there, I hope to see you guys at the new DA.

What title(s) are you currently reading?
Who's your favorite character(s) and why?
Who're your favorite artists?
Your favorite issues/compilations and why?
What do you recommend others to read?

It's been a while since I updated my journal so I guess I'll just do this to show that I'm still up and alive. I took this from Kuroi-Tsuki and since I made my monthly visit to the local comic book store today, it gives me a good reason to show what I poke around with.

What title(s) are you currently reading?
American Comics (DC Universe)
- Batman and Robin
- Batman Beyond
- Batman Incorporated
- Red Robin
- Teen Titans
- Young Justice

Manga
- Black Bird
- Liar Game
- To-Love-Ru Darkness

Who's your favorite character(s) and why?
Tim Drake, because he just seems to be one of the most likable Robins because you can relate to him on a more personal level than the other Robins. Dick Grayson was too much of an obedient boy, Jason Todd was/is a prick, and Damian Wayne is just a spoiled prick. Akiyama Shinichi, from Liar Game because he reminds me a lot of L from Death Note. Sure, he's a swindler, but he's got a dark past, he's insanely brilliant, and all the other characters respect/fear him. Lastly, Momo from To-Love-Ru Darkness because she's only 14 and a bit of a loli but she's just the funniest darned thing when it comes to making her harem plans come to fruition.

Who're your favorite comic artists?
Alvin Lee, Dustin Nguyen, Marcus To, Mike Norton

Your favorite issues/compilations and why?
- Red Robin because I like the Tim Drake character and the art style is ridiculously clean and nice.
- Batman Beyond because I loved Batman Beyond as a kid and it's cool to see it in a comic sequel.
- Batman and Robin because the art style and because as much of a spoiled brat Damian is, he's pretty funny.
- Liar Game because it's my new Death Note and it's a bit more avant garde when it comes to manga.

What do you recommend others to read?
Liar Game for those who can put up with heavy text, To-Love-Ru for the ecchi fans/perverts, and Batman and Robin for just any action or superhero fan.

Holy crap, I turn 17 today.  That means I don't need to sneak into Rated R movies anymore! Success!

So, I realized I haven't posted much artwork up here in months. My reason is because I haven't been getting around to much digital art since I've gotten much busier. It doesn't also help that I have college apps due in a week or so. Plus, most of my art is for my Illustration class and it's not the type of art I usually put up. The good news is, I think I like doing caricatures now, I might have some natural talent (as in not failing at it epically to begin with) for it.

More so on why I haven't been uploading lately, even though I plan to major in Business Administration, I decided since I still wanted to do art, I'm applying to DC Comics and Dark Horse Comics as a penciller or inker (because coloring takes so long). On top of that, since my friends and I are building a Mancave (we have a TV, rug, carpet, couch, and dartboard and now all we need is a DJ set), I was going to make a full-length graphic novel spanning some 177 pages in color. However, it's taking forever and with all the time I have, I've only been able to get in 6 pages in pencils and inks, 3 pages in color.

The bad news is, my tablet pen has become all but unresponsive, so I've been dealt a serious blow to my digital art capabilities. So that's all I have to say...

Oh! Don't forget: 10pointsoutofjae.tumblr.com
I spend more time here ^ than I do on Facebook, which may be bad...especially when I'm trying to study.

B2ST comeback is great, with Soom (I'm sooming right now sadly :( ) but that's not the point. THIS is the point: HALLOWEEN!

Last year I remember asking the guys on DA what costume I should make for Halloween (and I think last year's was Heartbreaker G-Dragon, Luigi, Arrancar, or Hollow Ichigo) and I ended up forgoing everything for Sunset Glow G-Dragon, but this year I think I'll stick in par with my choices. Help a brother out, yeah?

G-Dragon (Heartbreaker) - One of my favorite costumes. Requires white blazer and white spray paint (to represent the tears and design on the jeans) along with a platinum blonde wig and heavy eyeliner. Relatively cheap to moderate costume (depending on price of the blazer). My lobe holes won't heal completely in time to swap out for black (fake) spike plugs so the earring thing will have to sadly be omitted (unless it magically heals in 3 weeks).
G-Dragon (Beautiful Hangover) - One of the easiest costumes, if not the easiest. Requires a black blazer, Ray Bans, and a fauxhawk hairdo. My lobe holes won't heal completely in time to swap out for black (fake) spike plugs so the earring thing will have to sadly be omitted (unless it magically heals in 3 weeks). Requires no money on my part.

More to come as epiphanies strike

I really have to ask this now, I think I've been waiting too long...

"Is my art BAD...???"

I mean, I know I'm not great and all but is it really that terrible? ._. I review my entire art gallery every now and then and I can say that I've improved like I'm on steroids ever since, but...I'm not sure. It's only been a little over a year since I've done my art super seriously (since before then, it was only a small hobby because I was bored and I just mainly did that gaming comic webseries) and compared to most people I've had very little experience with a tablet (only having picked one up about 2 1/2 years ago). I'd like to think that the majority of people on DA and in my groups prefer the manga/anime style in the normal sense, what with the big eyes and the stereotypical stuff but that's not a valid excuse for myself--I won't take it. I paint what I paint the way I paint it because it's my preferred style and I won't let anyone tell me otherwise. But it still won't answer what people truly think of it. I won't sell out and change based on what people want but I do want an answer.
